4k tv blurry text

Background from non-tech guy: I recently cut cable and was disappointed with Roku Express picture quality on my 1080 plasma screen. It's not blurry, it's washed out. I have a GeForce GTX 750Ti card and by connecting to a 4K TV by HDMI 1.4 cable, something unexpected happens, namely, the card reports on Windows, that the resolution 3840x2160 is being run not at 30Hz, but at 60Hz. The "best for display" resolution is 2560 x 1440 (BenQ GW2765) and it lists only 2560x1440, 2048x1152, 1600x900 & 720p.At 2560 x 1440 the wallpaper/images look amazing, but the text looks icky, jagged, somewhat fuzzy - like if it were plugged into a TV.
